Cranberry Spiked Cider

Cranberry Spiked Cider
The first icy rain of the season has me craving warmth, inside and out.  The light is beginning to dim; suggesting work should soon come to a halt.  This evening that shall start with a steamy mug of my favorite fall flavors.

1/4 gallon apple cider
1/2 cup spiced rum (we like Sailor Jerry's)
2 tsp Russian Mulling Spice
1 cup fresh cranberries
1/2 lemon, juiced

Cranberry Spiked Cider

Mix together the cider, mulling spice, lemon juice and cranberries.  Heat to a slow boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.  Turn off heat and add rum. Using an immersion blender, mix the libation until the cranberries are broken apart. Serve warm or cooled over ice.  Baked apple slices make a great garnish for this drink.
