Ffwd: Mussels and chorizo with or without pasta
I dreamt of this last night. It made me want to travel. The mere thought of Dorie Greenspan's recipe reminds me of relaxing meals that wind down a week in the most satisfying of ways. The meals that make you feel like you are on vacation. A glass of wine and a dish of something special that needs no accompaniments.
Perhaps some music, blazing fire or brilliant sunset create an atmosphere. Some times the cooking is the ambience. Whatever it is you are transported from the daily grind.
When I ventured up to Pekarski's for the chorizo I thought of the many such meals I have had the pleasure to share. It caused me to add to my resolutions list - Always end the week, don't bring it home, don't share. It will be waiting right where I left it on Monday. You may be saying, "nice sentiment" - but I do believe a meal like this can make it happen.
While my favorite sausage maker was out of chorizo, they did have linguica. Tonight I am making a detour to the Iberian penninsula with a Portugese recipe that resembles this french classic.
Mussels and chorizo, with or without pasta can be found on page 316 of Around My French Table. Find more options for this fabulous recipe at French Fridays with Dorie.

I wrote about how this dish took me on traveling expeditions too. Not only geographically but back in time. Great job!

A good meal is reminiscent of our travels. I think that is one of the great things about traveling, you can bring food memories back to your home and recreate them all over again! Wonderful post!

What a great interpretation of Dorie's dish. The clams and linguica sound like a perfect pairing.
