Local Honey Ham, a holiday tradition
This holiday favorite, is simple, easy and is a delicious presentation for an Easter meal. Using native honey and a ham from Pekarski's Sausage make it a local delicacy.
- 1 10 pound fully-cooked, bone-in ham
- 1 1/4 cups packed dark brown sugar
- 1/3 cup pineapple juice
- 1/3 cup Local honey
- 1/3 large oranges, juiced and zested
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp Chinese Five Spice
Preheat over to 325 f. Place ham in roasting pan and place in oven for 2 hours. In a medium saucepan, stir together the pineapple juice, brown sugar, honey, orange juice and zest, mustard, and Chinese Five Spice. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. After it boils, reduce heat and let simmer for 5-10 minutes and set aside. After the 2 hours, remove ham from oven and brush the ham with the glaze. Put the ham back in oven for 30-45 minutes, brushing the glaze on every 10 minutes.
