Local honey glazed chicken wings

Cascading leaves, shortened days and a chill to be held off by a favorite sweater, early Autumn brings tailgate picnic season. Whether your are loading the family up to watch the homecoming game or meeting friends for a hay ride these easy wings are sure to be a hit when you stop cheer on the day with a snack.

Whisk together all marinade ingredients in a medium bowl. Set aside.Cut each chicken thigh in half. Place chicken pieces in a large, heavy-duty, resealable plastic bag. Add 1/2 the marinade to bag. Turn bag several times to coat chicken with marinade. Marinate in refrigerator for at least 2 hours, overnight is even better.

Preheat oven to 400ºF. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and fold or roll the chicken pieces into uniform oblong “wings.” Place wings on baking sheet so that they are touching, this will help hold the shape. Bake for 10min, chicken should be partially cooked and still pink in the middle.

Preheat gas grill to medium-high heat. Coat grill rack lightly with oil or cooking spray. Transfer wings to grill and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side.  Baste often with reserved marinade to ensure fantastic flavor.  The finished wings will have grill marks and a char grilled flavor.

Serve wings hot or cold with radishes, celery, carrot sticks and cold blue cheese dip.
