Cooking Spice Blends: Herbs De Provence

Herbs De Provence

A wonderful way to freshen and flavor fish, meat, chicken, soups, salads.  Salt and garlic free, it makes healthy cooking an easy option.  This is my personal go to blend.

Ingredients: Basil, Oregano, Marjoram, Thyme, Sage, & Rosemary.

Provence is situated in the southeast of France, just north of the Cote d’Azur.  It is a sun-drenched hideaway nestled along the rolling hillsides of the Rhone River.  The people of Provence enjoy a peaceful, slow-paced lifestyle.  The picturesque countryside is decorated with vineyards, gardens, and quaint cottages.  The cuisine of Provence is world renowned.  Calling for only the freshest ingredients, it is a healthy yet  flavorful way to eat.  One of the main ingredients in the recipes of Provence is a herbal blend known as Herbs de Provence.  Free of garlic, salt or pepper, it is a spice for anyone watching what he or she eats.   Your palate will not be disappointed.

Recipes for our Herbs de Provence

2 trout fillets        Olive Oil
Turn the oven to broil or prepare grill as you usually would for fish.  Cover a cookie sheet or grill rack with foil and turn up the edges. Brush both sides of the fish with olive oil.  Sprinkle a Tbs of herbs on each fillet.  If broiling, do so six inches below the flame for 5-7 min.  On grill check every 3 to 4 min.

Blend thoroughly.  Best when left to sit 1 hour before enjoying.

The significant inscription found on an old key---“If I rest, I rust”---would be an excellent motto for those who are afflicted with the slightest bit of idleness. Posed By Juicy Couture Handbags
