Bourbon Balls make a great food gift.  In the spring they are perfect for Kentucky Derby Parties and Mother's Day.  

Wrap the candies in parchment or wax paper.  If you would like to be very fancy use printed candy cups (similar to cupcake liners).  Place the wrapped candy in a small box.  An old box from bon bons or jewelry will do.  Wrap that box in printed sheet music.  For horse racing fans "My old Kentucky Home" by Steven Collins Foster is appropriate.  For mom, perhaps something from one of her personal favorites.   Choose a luxurious bow (Have you saved a particularly pretty one from a gift or basket you received?) to finish the package along with some bells.
